National Forest Bike Tours

Come and explore the beautiful and varied landscapes of the National Forest. Set in 200 acres across Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Staffordshire in the heart of the Midlands, there is so much to see and do, and what better way to experience it, than on your own bicycle. <br /><br />We have shorter family orientated rides of around 10 miles, right up to a full day out taking in some of the highlights of the area. You will ride around the paths, trails and quiet roads of the National Forest with the reassurance of an experienced and knowledgeable guide. There are many options to choose from depending on what you would like to see and experience or how far you would like to ride.<br /><br /><strong>We have five routes on offer, they are;<br /></strong><br /><strong>Family fun introduction to the National Forest</strong>, a 10 mile off road route suitable for all ages lasting between 2-4 hours.<br /><br /><strong>Bird lovers ride to Rosliston Forest Centre</strong>, a 15 mile on and off road suitable for all ages lasting 3-4 hours.<br /><br /><strong>Country Estates ride</strong>, a 21 mile mainly off road route suitable for more experienced cyclists lasting 4-5 hours.<br /><br /><strong>Remembrance ride</strong>, a 27 mile road route on country lanes suitable for more experienced cyclists lasting 4-5 hours.<br /><br /><strong>Tour de National Forest</strong>, a 37 mile mixed surface route suitable for experienced cyclists lasting 4-6 hours.<br /><br /><br /><br />All rides start from the <a target="_blank" rel="noreferrer" href="https://www.yha.org.uk/hostel/yha-national-forest#:~:text=YHA%20National%20forest%20is%20located%20in%20the%20heart,national%20environmental%20project%20of%20the%20last%2025%20years.">YHA National Forest</a> with a complementary drink and pastry, there we will meet and discuss the days chosen route and what to expect. We'll then carry out a safety check of the bike, rider and equipment.<br /><br />All of the rides will be relaxed and fun, with many opportunities to stop, chat and take refreshment at a one of the chosen cafe's.<br /><br />So, take a look at the routes available, pick one that takes your fancy and come along for the ride.<br /><br />If you or a member of your group doesn't have a bike, we can arrange for a bike to be hired locally and available at the start. Please let us know in advance so this can be organised. <br /><br />If you have any questions or would like to have a route written to take in certain sites, then please don't hesitate to get in touch.<br /> <br /><strong>Inclusions</strong><br /><strong>What's Included</strong><br />🍴 <strong>Food</strong> - A complimentary biscuit or pastry with your welcome drink<br />🥤 <strong>Drink</strong> - Help yourself to a welcome drink inside the YHA while we talk about the ride of the day<br /> <br /><strong>What you'll need</strong><br />🧤 <strong>Warm Clothing</strong> - Please take into account the weather forecast and bring suitable clothes for the day.<br />☂️ <strong>Waterproofs</strong> - Please take into account the weather forecast and bring suitable clothes for the day. Its always worth putting a waterproof layer in.<br />🍴 <strong>Food</strong> - You should bring any food you require, a few snacks to keep you going would be ideal. There are many options to buy food on route.<br />🥤 <strong>Drink</strong> - Please bring your own drink, and enough to keep you going for the duration of the ride. There are many options to buy drinks on route.<br />📋 <strong>Other</strong> - Cycling equipment, including suitable and mechanically safe bicycle, compulsory helmet, suitable footwear and maybe gloves. Please also bring a few spares to cover each of your bikes. There will be spares carried on the ride to hopefully keep the wheels rolling.<br />
