Hedge Furrow
The perfect space to create your own nature retreat.
'Muggans' (named after the Mugwort that grows by the steps) is entirely off-grid and has everything you'll need for a comfortable and memorable getaway, including a wood burning stove to keep you cozy, a wood fired hot tub to soak in under the stars and pizza oven for luxury campfire cooking.
The green wavy tin clad hut is hand built using natural and reclaimed materials and its design is based on a traditional shepherds lambing hut. Furnishings include a cute wee log burning stove that will keep you very toasty on chilly nights and is great for frying a pan of bacon or boiling a kettle for tea, a comfy raised double bed with sheep's wool pillows and organic cotton linen, perfect for catching up on some needed peaceful sleep, large double glazed windows allowing plenty of natural light and beautiful views in all directions, battery powered lanterns for providing the perfect romantic atmosphere, wooden dining table and chairs offering fantastic views of fields, woodland and hills while you eat your wood fired meals, a Welsh dresser housing enamel mugs, plates and bowls, cast iron cookware, tea, coffee and sugar, cooking oil, cutlery and many other antique bits and bobs that are both quirky and practical. Double glazed and fully insulated, the hut is warm even with thick snow on the ground and with a stable door you can allow in a breeze on hot days too.
The shepherds hut is located on an 8 acre ecologically designed small farm and forest garden homestead called Tap o' Noth Forest Farm. Run by James and Rosa, the farm is home to a small herd of dairy goats, geese, chickens and ducks and grows organic veggies, fruit trees, herbs and is an official demonstration site for the Permaculture Association (LAND Centre).
