River Wey, Surrey

The River Wey is a tributary of the River Thames in southeast England. Its two branches, one of which rises near Alton in Hampshire and the other in West Sussex to the south of Haslemere, joining at Tilford in Surrey.
A popular swim spot near London is in Guildford, where there is a sandy beach that slopes down to the west bank. There's plenty of deep water upriver – look out for a lifesaving buoy used to mark the most popular wild swimming area. Alternatively, there is a spot in Godalming, that is surrounded by a meadow, which is behind the garden at the back of the Manor Inn pub.
