Highgate to Hampstead walk

Highgate to Hamstead is a six-mile walk that includes some hilly areas, beautiful views and historic homes of poets, writers and artists. This walk takes about four and a half hours to complete and is best broken up for lunch at Kenwood House or somewhere along the way.
Exit Archway Station at Highgate Hill and turn left to Whittington Stone pub, turning left along Magdala Avenue. Don't miss the 1865 neo-gothic Holly Village. Stop at Highgate Cemetery to see the grave of Karl Marx and admire the 17th-century mansion that was once the home of the Earl of Lauderdale. Admire the views from Highgate village and Townsend Yard before making your way into Hamstead Heath and eventually through town to Hampstead Station.
