Desborough Island is a 112-acre manmade island in the River Thames on the reach above Sunbury Lock in Surrey, England. This large river island has a few small beaches making it ideal for a river swim with a place to relax by the river. There is a nearby rope swing and also a secluded cove on the NE side. Please note: The Thames is a tidal river making it best for experienced swimmers only.

Fun Fact: The island and surrounding river stood in for the banks of the Mississippi in the 1983 video by Culture Club of its song "Karma Chameleon".
