Tour

Vineyard and Winery Glamping - Weekend Activity Experience Want an activity weekend, glamping on a farm, vineyard and winery in a beautiful location but without travelling to the south of France!? READ ON!..... Why not stay in our 3 glamping barrels and learn some new skills?

Example Itinerary:
Day 1 Friday  - Arrive anytime from 2pm, with a welcome and introduction to the weekend from the owner and winemaker Clare, with a glass of chilled English Sparkling Wine. Have Friday evening to yourselves to settle in and cook, or head into Shaftesbury, just a mile away and explore the local town and dine out.

**Day 2 ** - Saturday’s activities start at 9.30 am, so that you have time for a leisurely breakfast, with a late morning and lunch break. The activity afternoon ends around 4.30pm. Depending on the time of year and weather, supervised activities may include: vineyard maintenance, viticulture, pruning, canopy management, river bank maintenance, apple picking/pressing, cider making, grape picking/pressing, wine making and bottling. The winery talk then starts at 5.30pm with tastings to follow and a Dorset Platter for supper of local ham, Dorset cheeses, chutneys and fresh crusty Bread and butter, with a top up glass of your favourite of the Melbury Vale wines. From 7.30 pm onwards the evening is yours….. with the opportunity to buy wines to take away as gifts, or to continue the evening back at your barrel and enjoy a glass of your choice over a brazier fire, socialising, watching the stars, or looking out for barn owls searching for supper and deer skipping through the fields at dusk!

Day 3Sunday is yours....check out is not until noon, so take your time over breakfast. Before you head home….take a walk to the top of Melbury Hill for fantastic panoramic views, or visit local attractions. Wardour Castle, Compton Abbas Airfield, National Trust’s Kingston Lacey or Stourhead.

NB Harvest time is September to October  - Saturday itinerary for harvest differs - example:

Day 2 Saturday will usually be harvest day (weather dependent), which starts at 8.30am and picking finishes by 4pm – hopefully with everything weighed and loaded into the press. Harvest time can be a late finish, so be prepared to assist as needed and bring waterproof footwear and old clothes – grapes are very sticky! Your talk over a wine tasting and supper will be whilst the pressing takes place, with a last press emptying activity to finish the day and a nightcap to celebrate when the crop is all in and pressed!
