Scarborough South Beach is a popular resort beach situated on the Yorkshire coast. It is 0.5 kilometres in length with a gentle slope. At low tide a large area of the beach is exposed and the water's edge can be some distance away. To the north of the bathing water is Scarborough harbour. The beach is backed by a large number of tourist establishments, including restaurants, amusements and shops and higher up the steep cliff the town of Scarborough.
The most recent Environment Agency water quality classification is 'Poor' , based on samples taken from 2021-05-05 through to 2024-09-20.
